BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS: HOW TO START

The beginning of the spring semester and preparation for high-quality writing of qualifying works of bachelors goes to the maximum. On January 26, the head of scientific community, PhD student of the Department of Marketing Yana Us held an online seminar on "Application of bibliometric analysis in the study of theoretical aspects of qualification work."

The seminar was held in the form of training, where examples showed the importance of this method, technology and features of presentation of the results.

The practice of previous years has shown that such seminars allow to make qualification works more practical, scientifically substantiated and perfect in terms of the use of scientific research methods. The DOM team hopes that this year's bachelor's studies will be no less vivid, as they are always on the wave of change.

SUCCESS IN EVERYTHING: REPORTING OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MARKETING

January 12 at the Institute of Finance, Economics and Management reports of the departments have began. The Department of Marketing was the first to present its results and quite successfully. The report of the head of the department Oleksiy Lyulyov allowed to comprehensively cover all areas of work for 2020 and present our successes in general. Despite the global pandemic, remote work and the suspension of many planned activities, the department was able to quickly reorient and use the online form of cooperation to their advantage.
Oleksiy Lyulyov explains the success of such achievements by the coherence of the DOM team, the desire to work for the overall result and the full commitment of each member of the team: "THE GENERAL SUCCESS OF THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT IS THE SUCCESS OF EACH OF US!"
But here, too, there were some interesting things - during the discussion we found many options for solving problematic aspects of the marketing department. We are sincerely grateful to all colleagues who made appropriate comments and suggested quality mechanisms to overcome them.

TRIPLE VICTORY: MARKETERS LOVE INNOVATION

The annual competition of pedagogical innovations for marketers was held with great benefits: 3 applications and all with honors. Artem Artyukhov and Maria Minchenko became winners in the nominations "Contact Training", "Career Guidance" and "Lifelong Learning, Postgraduate Education and Advanced Training". It is very nice that teachers do not stand still, constantly looking for interesting tools in teaching and trying to make their disciplines extraordinary.

BENEFIT FROM EVERY SECOND: INSTAGRAM TRENDS AND PERSONAL BRAND PROMOTION

The New Year is still far away, but on the winter Thursday of December 10, 2020, the second-year students of the Department of Marketing received valuable material as part of a lecture-discussion with a practicing SMM specialist, author of books on marketing Alina Kryvenets. The practitioner shared useful ideas for promotion on the social network Instagram, the rules of design of the brand page, examples of quality Instagram content, and TOP brands in the category "Personal brand".

Such cooperation with the practitioner, organized by the Senior Lecturer Nataliia Letunovska, enriched the students' knowledge about developing different types of Instagram pages for communication with consumers of their product. Furthermore, we now know that Instagram is a priority platform to use to build a personal brand.

BRIGHT DEFENSES OF MARKETOLOGISTS

On December 24, master's theses were defended online. Interesting open defenses of works, presentation of practical achievements, discussions in the process of discussing issues allowed to show good knowledge of higher education students.
Each of the defenses is not just a job. The case principle of presenting the obtained achievements allowed to show the level of knowledge, critical thinking, and creative potential. English-speaking, about the SumDU Congress Center, about startups, about the peculiarities of local companies… These works showed not only the knowledge and ability to use their knowledge in practice, but also the most important thing for marketers - their uniqueness and uniqueness.

TOURISM MARKETING DISCOVERS NEW INTERNATIONAL HORIZONS

Today's quarantine restrictions challenges indicate the importance of marketing absolutely in every area. While tourism comes forward, DOM-team has proposed its scientific solutions.

Congratulations to the research team by Oleksiy Lyulyov, Tetyana Pimonenko, Anna Shvindina and Muhammad Soliman with accepting the high-quality article «Scientific Output of the European Journal of Tourism Research: A Bibliometric Overview and Visualization» to the European Journal of Tourism Research (indexed in Scopus, Q2, according to CiteScore Rank 2020 & Clarivate Analytics', ESCI).

Such publications allow showing the world the high level of scientific competences, practical knowledge and skills, as well as to increase SumDU brand awareness.

RELENTLESS MARKETING STUDENTS TOOK PART IN THE INTERNATIONAL ADVERTISING FESTIVAL!

Students of almost all courses majoring in "Marketing" took part in the International Advertising Festival "Advertising-Fest", which was organized by the Odessa National Economic University. During the preparation for this competition, our marketers created logos, flyers, posters, invitations and other types of print advertising, and also created video advertising. In total, 17 works from 13 students of 1-6 courses were submitted to festival from the SumDU. But this event was the most exciting for the 1st year students, where they shared their impressions: "The 5th Advertising-Fest 2020" took place recently and we tried to show our abilities in this competition. We, as novice marketers, have decided to take part in our first advertising competition". Veronika Kazimirova, a student of MK-01, says: “It was a great experience, we saw the work of many people and realized that we really need to improve our skills and work, but in general the whole atmosphere was unreal, everyone supported each other, there were many master classes, competitions, judges were fair. Although we could not win, we gained much more valuable experience.

THE RESTLESS JOINED THE JEAN MONISTS COHORT.

The Department of Marketing always tries to keep up to speed with international events such as grants, projects, conferences, etc. This week, the project managers Tetyana Pimonenko and Olena Chyhryn joined the online seminar «Day of the winners of the EU program Erasmus+ Jean Monnet: how to implement the project successfully».

QUARANTINE IS NOT A HINDRANCE FOR RESTLESS MARKETERS!

One more achievement of marketers in 2020 is the signing of a cooperation agreement with the University of Culture and Economics (Ekonomikas un Kulturas Augstskola) in Riga (Latvia).

The agreement envisages, first of all, the organization of an international research and teaching exchange with SumDU for conducting research trainings, lectures, seminars, conferences, symposiums, round tables, etc. An important aspect of this cooperation is the agreement on joint preparation and publication of scientific publications, including in sources indexed by the world's most famous databases such as Web of Science, Scopus and others.

In addition, the agreement provides a virtual mobility and cooperation between organization, which is a necessary challenge today. Therefore, despite all the challenges of 2020, we are successfully moving towards international development and every day we open more and more opportunities for remote international cooperation.

MARKETER IS NOT JUST ACADEMIC WORK…

Here are distance education, a lot of real-life cases, online field survey, regular seminars and pieces of training, work and time for sports. DOM-team rejoices at all achievements of its students and PhD students. Although winter is outside, Tetyana Zakrevska, a PhD student at the Department of Marketing, always finds time for running in her busy schedule. On December 5, Tetyana got ahead and received an award in the Race Projekt, which hosted a 5 km race commemorating the coach Peter Saiko. The 27:51 result is very, very cool for those who continuously devote to postgraduate study and the department affairs.

The Department of Marketing congratulates Tetyana on her victory. Our best wishes to continue improvements in that regard because each new run kilometre always helps to get better.

Expanding the horizons of international cooperation

As a result of the fruitful work of the autumn semester, the  Department of Marketing representatives managed to expand the  international cooperation horizons by several more important steps. This time, a memorandum of understanding was signed between European Marketing and Management Association (EUMMAS) and Sumy State University located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to the signed memorandum, SumDU plans not only to cooperate closely in scientific and professional research in the field of marketing, management and other related disciplines, but also to create a professional and academic network aimed at exchanging knowledge and experience in areas under the auspices of EUMMAS. This includes organizing and participating in various events, such as conferences, corporate events, seminars, trainings, round tables, consulting events, projects, etc. By the way, currently Tatyana Anatolyevna Vasilyeva is already a member of this association and actively participates in its activities.

SCIENTISTS IN NEW KNOWLEDGE SEARCH

The restlessness of the professors of the marketing department has no limits. They are restless in teaching students, providing scientific and international activities, acquiring new knowledge, strengthening existing skills, and mastering new ones. Thus, professors of the marketing department – Nataliia Letunovska and Liubov Syhyda – took part in the online seminar “Google Digital Tools for Scientists” organized by Google and the Ministry of Education and Science. Participation in this seminar discovered Google tools (Google Public Data, Dataset Search, Google Data Studio, and Google Cloud Platform). The use of these tools will expand the research horizons of the professors of the department and also will help to keep up with current scientific trends and conquer new scientific heights.
