THE ROLE OF CULTURE IN FORMING THE RESPONSE TO EXTERNAL RISKS

On October 24, 2023, an open lecture on the topic "Tightness and Loseness as cultural factors: an application to explain vaccination attitudes" was held by an Italian professor.

The speaker of the event was Vincenzo ALFANO, professor at the University of Naples Parthenope (Italy).

The lecturer shared the results of his own research on tightness and looseness as a cultural factor.

He talked about:

  1. approaches to measuring tightness;
  2. features of empirical application of the obtained data;
  3. the influence of the level of cultural tightness in the region on the attitude to vaccination;
  4. the importance of cultural factors consideration in the development and implementation of public policy, especially related to global risks.

The meeting was interesting and useful. This event contributes to the understanding of the role of culture in shaping the response to external shokes.
