LECTURE: DEVELOPMENT OF GREEN CAMPUSES: EU COUNTRIES' EXPERIENCE FOR UKRAINE
On June 8, 2023, an open lecture titled “Development of Green Campuses: EU Countries’ Experience for Ukraine” was held on the Google Meet online platform. The event took place as part of the implementation of the Jean Monnet project “Green Campus Strategies: EU Experience for Ukrainian Universities” (2022-2025, 101085427 — GCAM — ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH).

The main speaker, Professor Tetiana VASYLIEVA, discussed the specifics of forming green campuses at leading universities worldwide. She emphasized that universities hold a unique position in addressing environmental challenges, as they bring together researchers, innovators, the public and private sectors, and communities. Universities must serve as an example for local communities, which requires them to demonstrate to employers and public institutions how to limit their own environmental impact and remember ecological ethics and justice.
The experience of organizing green campuses in universities in Poland, the Czech Republic, Finland, the USA, and Canada was particularly interesting and useful.

GREEN STANDARDS FOR UKRAINIAN UNIVERSITIES
Konstantin Kyrychenko participated in a meeting of representatives from the European University Alliance “Unite!,” which brings together higher education institutions from nine EU countries (Austria, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Finland, France, and Sweden), as well as seven leading Ukrainian universities and leaders of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance of Ukraine.
The event took place within the framework of the “Green Standards for Ukrainian Universities” project, funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange and coordinated by Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
A unique feature of this phase of the project was the organization of the summer school “Green Technologies for Ukrainian Students,” involving students from Ukrainian partner universities. Thanks to this initiative, eight students from Sumy State University (Institute of Business, Economics and Management and TeSET Faculty) spent a week studying green business models and acquiring skills in creating and managing green projects to achieve sustainable development goals.
In accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030, green transformations must become an integral part of a quality higher education system and the formation of green campuses. Sumy State University will soon pilot the application of green standards, developed with European partners, in science, educational activities, and campus management.
