The course curriculum covers a diverse range of topics, offering students invaluable insights into EU policies that directly impact SMEs. Some of the key areas to be explored include:

Open Lectures on "EU Values and Ethics of SMEs": Knowledge for Technical Students

On February 10-11, 2023, within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module “EU Policy for SMEs: Perspectives and Challenges for Ukraine” (Project ID: 619999-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE), an intriguing lectures “EU Values and Ethics of SMEs” took place. The event was aimed at 25 students pursuing technical specialties at Sumy State University.

The main speakers at the lecture were Oleksii Lyulyov and Tetyana Pimonenko. During the event, key aspects related to EU values and their role in the context of SMEs were illuminated.

The lecture began with an exploration of fundamental values that underlie successful businesses. Emphasis was placed on the importance of these values in promoting ethical and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Students were introduced to the specific values promoted by the European Union in the business sphere. These principles encompass aspects such as sustainability, social responsibility, and inclusivity, which are pivotal for the success of SMEs in the European market.

This comprehensive course delves into various facets of European Union (EU) values and ethics within the realm of business.

The curriculum of this course covers a wide array of topics designed to provide students with invaluable insights into the EU’s ethical framework and its implications for entrepreneurship:

  1. EU Values and Ethics of SMEs – exploration of the core values and ethical principles that underpin the operations of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the EU.
  2. Successful EU Entrepreneurs – discovering the inspiring journeys of successful entrepreneurs within the European Union and the ethical considerations that guided their paths to success.

Lecture-Discussion "Green Entrepreneurship: EU Studies for Ukraine"

From 20th to 24th, March 2023, an exciting series of lecture-discussions “Green Entrepreneurship: EU Studies for Ukraine” took place, bringing together 55 representatives from various universities and fields of study.

The lecture series was organized by the coordinators of the Jean Monnet module “EU Policy for SMEs: Perspectives and Challenges for Ukraine” (Project ID: 619999-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE), Tetyana Pimonenko and Oleksii Lyulyov. Additionally, several speakers from Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia were invited to share their expertise and knowledge on green entrepreneurship with Ukrainian students. The lectures were highly relevant, addressing issues related to environmental conservation and the adoption of green practices within the business environment.

Participants gained insights into the key characteristics and aspects of green business that contribute to its success and sustainability. Experts shared the European Union’s experience in implementing green approaches in entrepreneurial activities aligned with environmental goals. Successful Completion of the Course " EU Policy for Small and Medium Enterprises" within the European Project

In June 2023, the “EU Policy for Small and Medium Enterprises” course concluded successfully as part of the Jean Monnet Module “EU Policy for SMEs: Perspectives and Challenges for Ukraine” (Project ID: 619999-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE).

Over 40 students participated in this intensive course, bringing together students from various specialties at Sumy State University. The course encompassed not only theoretical lectures but also practical sessions, intensives, open workshops, and brainstorming sessions aimed at developing skills and knowledge in the field of European Union policy, particularly in the context of the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The course organizers, Tetyana Pimonenko and Oleksii Lyulyov, dedicated significant efforts to create a program that helped students understand key aspects of EU policy related to the development of SMEs. Additionally, during the course implementation, engaging lecture-discussions took place, featuring foreign speakers from Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia. They shared their countries’ experiences in supporting and fostering youth entrepreneurship, providing valuable insights and practical advice.

The completion of this course marked a significant milestone in preparing young Ukrainian entrepreneurs for effective work in the modern business environment and the challenges faced by SMEs. Sumy, Sept. 10 – On a Sunday afternoon, an informative online lecture was conducted by esteemed professors Oleksii Lyulyov and Tetjana Pimonenko at Sumy State University. This enlightening session was open to all students of Sumy State University who were keen to explore the intricacies of the European Union’s policies tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The lecture encompassed a comprehensive overview of the multifaceted aspects of EU policy pertaining to SMEs. Professors Lyulyov and Pimonenko elaborated on a variety of key themes, providing students with valuable insights into the internal and external strategies designed to bolster SMEs. They delved into the EU legislations affecting SMEs, shedding light on the regulatory landscape governing these businesses.

September 24, 2023 – In an engaging lecture delivered to 20 students at West Ukrainian National University, Professors Oleksii Lyulyov and Tetjana Pimonenko shared their expertise on crucial topics, including global business rankings, the impact of business on the Ukrainian economy, and the vital role of local enterprises in promoting economic growth.The lecture encompassed the following key areas:

  1. The World Rating for Doing Business: Professor Oleksii Lyulyov began the lecture by shedding light on the intricacies of the world rating for doing business. He meticulously explained the factors that contribute to a favorable business climate, and how nations worldwide are ranked based on these parameters. This segment of the lecture was a window into the global arena of entrepreneurship, providing students with valuable insights into what it takes for a country to be business-friendly.
  2. The Role of Business in the Ukrainian Economy: EU Lessons: Professor Tetyana Pimonenko, an expert in Ukrainian economics and international relations, then took the stage to discuss the integral relationship between business and the Ukrainian economy. Drawing upon lessons from the European Union, she outlined how Ukraine could learn from EU countries in terms of economic development. This portion of the lecture highlighted the significance of a robust private sector in fostering economic growth and stability, and how Ukraine can harness this potential.

Completion of the Course "EU Business Values and Ethics"

In July 2023, the study course “EU Business Values and Ethics” for students at Sumy State University was successfully completed. This course was conducted as part of the Jean Monnet Module “EU Policy for SMEs: Perspectives and Challenges for Ukraine” (Project ID: 619999-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE).

Over 70 students from various courses, specialties, and educational levels, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students, participated in this course. The educational process was diverse and enriching. In addition to traditional classes, students took part in a series of open lectures and workshops aimed at bringing together students from different fields of study to explore important aspects of business values and ethics in the context of the European Union.

During the course, participants gained a profound understanding of the core business values and ethical aspects of entrepreneurship in both the EU and Ukraine. Invited lecturers, including Vladimir Nesterenko, Sergey Pimonenko, Oleg Olefirenko, and others, shared their own experiences in the field of entrepreneurship and discussed key elements of successful business operations.

Special attention was given to the role of women in business in Ukraine and EU countries, as well as business opportunities for women. The course also allowed students to combine their studies with an online course titled “Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises: Experience from European Union Countries,” developed by the coordinators of the Jean Monnet Module “EU Policy for SMEs: Perspectives and Challenges for Ukraine” (Project ID: 619999-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE).

As a result of completing the course, all students received relevant certificates confirming their successful completion of this educational program.

The second Summer School "How to Start a New Business: EU and Ukrainian Experience

From August 1st to 12th, students from various regions across Ukraine came together for the eagerly anticipated Summer School titled “How to Start a New Business: EU and Ukrainian Experience.” as part of the Jean Monnet Module “EU Policy for SMEs: Perspectives and Challenges for Ukraine” (Project ID: 619999-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE).

This year’s Summer School “How to Start a New Business: EU and Ukrainian Experience” took a mixed format that combined both online and offline components. Students engaged in two intensive weeks of learning, with some sessions held virtually and others conducted in person in Sumy.

The program featured a blend of on-site visits to companies and institutions, including Technochim LLC, where participants gained valuable firsthand insights into real-world business operations. These experiences were complemented by a series of in-depth lectures and interactive workshops that explored various factors influencing entrepreneurship.

In addition to the structured curriculum, students had ample opportunities for networking and idea exchange, fostering a dynamic learning environment. These interactions allowed them to connect with peers, share experiences, and exchange innovative ideas, setting the stage for potential collaborations and future entrepreneurial ventures.

Workshops "Green Business: EU Leaders"

From August 21st to 26th, 2023, a series of educational workshops on “Green Business: EU Leaders” were conducted for young researchers and PhD students from Sumy State University (Ukraine), EKA University (Latvia), and Riga Technical University (Latvia) within Jean Monnet Module “EU Policy for SMEs: Perspectives and Challenges for Ukraine” (Project ID: 619999-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE).

The workshops covered a wide range of topics related to green entrepreneurship, with keynote speakers including Tetyana Pimonenko and Oleksii Lyulyov.

Throughout this workshops, participants engaged in dynamic discussions, interactive sessions, and practical tasks that explored the principles and strategies of leadership in green business within the European Union (EU). The workshops aimed to inspire a new generation of researchers to explore sustainable development principles and promote a green and environmentally responsible future.

45 participants had the opportunity to learn from the valuable experience and expertise of Tetyana Pimonenko and Oleksii Lyulyov, who systematically addressed key aspects of leadership in green business. The workshops fostered collaboration, encouraged innovative thinking, and provided a platform for the exchange of ideas and solutions.

Successful Workshop on "Unemployment and self-employment among youth" for Students from Sumy State University

On September 19, 2023, workshop “Youth Unemployment and Self-Employment: Features and Opportunities” was conducted for students from Sumy State University within Jean Monnet Module “EU Policy for SMEs: Perspectives and Challenges for Ukraine” (Project ID: 619999-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE).

This engaging and productive training aimed to address the pressing issue of youth unemployment and explore the prospects of self-employment. It brought together students from various specialties of study (Economics and Management, Journalists, Engineer, Computer Science) and created a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange and skill development.

Throughout the training, participants delved into multifaceted aspects of unemployment, analyzing its root causes and potential consequences. They gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities young people encounter when entering the job market. Furthermore, the training provided a clear understanding of self-employment and entrepreneurship as alternative career paths for youth.

Experienced speakers, Tetyana Pimonenko and Oleksii Lyulyov, facilitated engaging discussions and shared their expertise on self-employment initiatives and opportunities. Students had the chance to learn from successful cases presented by guest speakers, including accomplished entrepreneurs such as Volodymyr Rudika, Volodymyr Nesterenko, Yulia Shaforost, and others.

The training not only enriched students’ understanding of unemployment issues but also encouraged them to consider self-employment as a viable career alternative. It emphasized the importance of entrepreneurial skills and offered guidance on starting one’s own business.

Webinar "EU and Ukrainian Friendly-Business Environment"

On September 20th, webinar “EU and Ukrainian Friendly-Business Environment” took place within Jean Monnet Module “EU Policy for SMEs: Perspectives and Challenges for Ukraine” (Project ID: 619999-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE), bringing together experts and participants interested in the intricate landscape of business relations between the European Union (EU) and Ukraine. The event was moderated by Tetyana Pimonenko. The webinar gathered 30 students, 15 young scientists, 10 educators and 5 businessman.  

The webinar featured distinguished speakers, Tatjana Tambovceva, businesswoman and Professor at Riga Technical University in Latvia, and Yurii Bilan, Professor at Rzeszów University of Technology in Poland. Both speakers brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the virtual table.

During the course of the webinar, attendees engaged in vibrant discussions on a variety of topics, shedding light on essential aspects of business in the EU and Ukraine. These topics included opportunities for youth entrepreneurs, EU business requirements, the role of women in business, best practices in green business, and insights into family businesses and micro-enterprises.

The webinar served as an essential platform for knowledge sharing and fostering a deeper understanding of the evolving business landscape in the EU and Ukraine. The diverse range of topics discussed highlighted the multifaceted nature of the friendly-business environment, offering valuable takeaways for all participants
